There is no entrance examination, but it is recommended that students have some acting experience. Applications must include details of this experience, together with a statement explaining personal reasons for wishing to do the course. A personal professional reference must also be included.
Minimum age: 21
After a trial period of one term, the School and student decide whether to continue with the course or not.

The first year is an autonomous course, designed to stimulate curiosity and interest in phenomena that make up everyday life and to provide basic acting skills. Creative work accomplished and the qualities of the individual student are the deciding factors for continuing onto the second year of study.

After two years, a certificate is delivered confirming that the course has been completed.

A working knowledge of spoken French is required to follow the classes.

Classes start in October and run until June, with two holiday periods, one at Christmas and one in Spring.

Classes are held every day from Monday to Friday, with a timetable running over 30 hours a week (for classes, preparation and rehearsals).

Fees are due at the beginning of each term and are not-refundable.
The School is a recognized and approved Training Institute

Jacques Lecoq’s teaching method helps artists to discover new forms of theatre, these theatres belong to the students, their ideas, their quests. The school is intended for those who have finished their drama studies and have a preliminary professional experience on stage and wish to gain more insight into their abilities as actors, directors and playwrights.

To consider your application we must receive your curriculum vitae, giving precise details of theatre classes or workshops followed, date of birth, a photo and a full size photo , a letter of recommendation from your teacher about your work, and your personal motivation in wanting to follow our 2 year professional course.

There is no audition : the first term, ending in December is a probationary period. Whether the student should go on to complete the first year is decided during this time in discussion with the teaching staff. After completion of the 1st year, the selection into the 2nd year is made according to criteria of acting and involvement in the 1st year.

There are 3 terms each season, from mid-October to June. The probationary term lasts 10 weeks, the other two terms last 11 weeks each. There is a two week-vacation at Christmas and at Easter. The studies take up a total of 30 hours a week, including class time, personal work and rehearsals. Classes are held Monday through Friday, four hours a day.

A basic knowledge of French helps a great deal as no time is allowed for translation.

For those interested in exploring the relationship between scenography and theatre, we also offer an optional 2 year course : the Laboratory of Movement Study (LEM).

Some experience in scenography, painting or sculpture is useful. These classes are held three times a week in the evenings; at certain periods the student has the possibility of using our construction space.

The Classes of next season 2008-2009 begin
