The Teachers

The team of teachers, all of whom are former students, work in a collegial way as Jacques Lecoq wished. They divide their schedule between the classes they give in the school and their commitment to the theatre world, as an actor, director or playwright. This enables them to stay in touch with contemporary theatre and nourish their teaching ideas and share them with the students.

Carlos García Estévez studied at the Jacques Lecoq’s School and at Laboratory of Movement Study L.E.M. in 1997-00.

As an actor, he is touring, internationally, his masked performance Solo dell’Arte. And he performed with Complicite under the direction of Simon McBurney. With his company Manifesto Poetico he creates and directs his own shows. And as a movement director he participates in opera and circus projects.

He has taught at American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC), Brown University (Riverside), Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Glasgow) and Teatro Nacional (Bogota), amongst others.

Carlos worked with Donato Sartori as a movement teacher and as an actor. Since 1998 he researches about the tragic depth in Commedia dell’Arte, mask performance and devised theatre.

He also worked and studied with Gennadi Bogdanov, Pierre Byland, Toby Sedgwick, José Luís Gómez (Teatro de La Abadia, Madrid) and I Gede Tapa Sudana.

Together with François Lecoq, he directs the artistic project Manifesto In Action.

Since 2011 he teaches at Laboratory of Movement Study - LEM.
