AVIGNON FESTIVAL 2026

3rd edition

SOUND INSTALLATION

IT’S ALL ABOUT TIMING

Visits at 2, 3, 4 and 5 pm from July 14th to 17th and from July 20th to 24th.

Drawing on interviews and previously unpublished archives from the school, this sound installation offers a unique exploration of Jacques Lecoq’s pedagogy through an unusual lens: sound. A multiplicity of voices intertwines with the sounds of tape recorders, metronomes, and bodies in motion within a spatialized composition. This creation invites the imagination on an immersive sonic journey into the heart of this pedagogical approach and the mystery of rhythm.

A sound work conceived by Anne Astolfe, in partnership with the association demaiin.org.

THE ACTOR – PLAYER | PLAY IN MOVEMENT

This workshop is a partnership with Avignon Festival & Compagnies – Festival Off d’Avignon during the festival’s international week – WYPPAM

From the 8 to the 11 July 2025 | 10h-13h

In this workshop dedicated to international students during the international week of the festival, we will explore the fundamentals of Jacques Lecoq’s pedagogy focusing on the actor’s play, from movement to play.

Through improvisation, we will explore the silence before speech, speech that is true, different tensions of play from which emerge different dramatic territories. We will seek the play of the offbeat which creates rhythm, contrast, surprise through movement analysis which will unveil the numerous bridges between gesture and play.

Lecoq always spoke about the importance for actors to observe life, life as it is, and the importance of progressively elevating play for a quotidian gesture acquires another dimension becoming a remarkable attitude.

This workshop will end with the discovery of the neutral mask which, simplifies and specifies play and enlarging the presence to space.

This workshop is not open to registrations.

The Ecole Jacques Lecoq is accompanied by Elektronlibre / Olivier Saksik, Sophie Alavi et Mathilde Desrousseaux national press relations.
